Bugaboo quality initiatives

The safety and well-being of our customers and their families is paramount at Bugaboo, and it’s our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks for injury, or are made aware of them — even if the likelihood of this occurrence is limited.

Bugaboo Giraffe

If the screws connecting the chair’s legs weren’t fully tightened by the customer during set up, the screws become loose over time. In that case, the legs of the chair can detach from the frame when a baby is seated in the baby set and is pushing against the footrest. This presents a falling hazard.

Safety is paramount to ensure the well-being of our customers and their children. To decrease the potential for incorrect installation of the screws, we have developed a free Repair Kit.This Repair Kit includes:

  • A redesigned set of screws;
  • An improved Allen key for easier installation;
  • A step-by-step instruction manual.

Bugaboo has contacted all known retailers and customers directly. If you have ordered a Bugaboo Giraffe after May 1st, 2025, you will already have the Repair Kit included in your Bugaboo Giraffe box and no further action is needed. You can also confirm whether you have the updated Bugaboo Giraffe by simply following the link below and inputting your high chair’s serial number.

Bugaboo - Dragonfly

When the Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller is unfolded with the seat in "parent-facing" position and the backrest of the seat is unfolded directly into a horizontal position, rather than the fully upright position the seat backrest will not be properly secured and may move past its intended stopping point, presenting an injury risk to an unharnessed child. If you have ordered a Bugaboo Dragonfly after June 27th 2023, you will already have the updated seat delivered and no further action is needed. You can also confirm whether you have the updated seat by simply following the link below and inputting your seat serial number.

Bugaboo replaces the carry handle for the Bugaboo Cameleon and Bugaboo Donkey

In response to customer reports, we are proactively reaching out to provide a new and improved carry handle for the Bugaboo Cameleon and Bugaboo Donkey. This Bugaboo quality initiative will ensure customers can use our products to their utmost satisfaction. We have learnt from customer reports that under certain conditions, the white button on the carry handle may pop out when the Bugaboo Cameleon or Bugaboo Donkey carrycot is resting on the ground or is placed on an unstable surface. If the white button pops out, the carry handle may detach on one side.

Bugaboo replaces carry handle for the Bugaboo Cameleon 3

The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 is compliant with all international regulatory safety standards. However, a small number of customer reports and our own follow-up testing confirm that in the case of these specific Bugaboo Cameleon 3 pushchairs (serial numbers S/N 190101115300001 to S/N 190105124800215) their current carry handle connectors may break, presenting a falling hazard. No injuries have been reported. Carry handle connectors connect the carry handle to the carrycot or seat.

Bugaboo Bee shimmying front wheels

Non-swivelling wheels: in September 2011 we issued a safety warning to Bugaboo Bee owners regarding non-swivelling front wheels (production date January 2011 up to and including September 2011).

Shimmying wheels: we have learnt that some Bugaboo Bee customers are experiencing difficulties with the manoeuvrability of their pushchair’s front wheel, caused by the effect of ‘shimmying’ wheels.

Bugaboo — car seat safety

August 2011: Bugaboo has learnt that incorrect use of a Graco Car Seat installed with adapters (models 80401GC02 & 80400GC01) on a Bugaboo Cameleon in combination with a Wheeled board model 85500WB01 (on the market since August 2009) can cause a safety risk. If the Graco Car Seat with adapters is installed on the Bugaboo Cameleon with the child facing the world, the aforementioned Wheeled Board — when not in use in either down or upright position — can potentially flip upwards and hit the release button of the Graco Car Seat. This can cause the seat to come loose and fall.
