How to clean your pushchair in 7 simple steps
Your pushchair works hard for you and your baby, so it’s bound to need a good cleaning now and then. While it might seem like a big task, it’s easier than you think. Here's how to clean your pushchair in seven simple steps using basic supplies you likely already have at home.
Step 1: Check the care labels
Before you start, check your pushchair’s care labels for specific maintaining instructions, as guidelines may vary slightly based on your specific model. These labels are often found on the fabric or the frame. If you’ve misplaced the care manual, try searching online for the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Step 2: Take it apart
To deep clean it, you first need to disassemble your pushchair. Remove the wheels, which often accumulate dust and dirt, especially after outdoor use. Check for any locking mechanisms or quick-release buttons to easily detach them. Next, take off any detachable fabric, such as seat liners, sun canopies, and underseat baskets. Step 3: Hoover
Use a hoover to take care of larger crumbs and debris from the frame and fabric. Focus on the areas around the seat and footrest, as they often see the most action and can get the dirtiest.
Step 4: Clean the fabrics
Most Bugaboo pushchair fabrics are designed to be machine-washable, with some exceptions such as the underseat basket, rain cover, breezy sun canopy, or certain limited-edition products. Before you throw any fabric in the washing machine, double-check the labels to see if they're machine-washable or can only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
For non-machine-washable parts, first, mix warm water with a small amount of mild soap. Dip a cloth into the soapy water and scrub the fabric, paying attention to stains. Then, use a dry, clean cloth to wipe away soap residue. Finally, let the fabric air-dry.
For machine-washable fabrics, first, remove any foam inserts or stiffeners. Wash the fabrics separately on a delicate cycle at a maximum temperature of 30°C. Use gentle laundry detergents, and avoid harsh chemicals, bleaching, tumble drying, dry-cleaning, or ironing.
Step 5: Wipe down the pushchair frame
Use a damp cloth to clean the pushchair’s frame, foam grips, and leather-look grips. For small crevices and joints, a soft brush (like a toothbrush) works well. Take care to brush away from any sliding joints. Don’t forget to clean the wheels, too — a damp cloth or brush should do the trick.
Step 6: Air dry
Once everything is clean, let the parts air dry completely before reassembling them. This helps prevent mold or mildew from forming.
