If you have a newborn, you'll need an infant car seat for their first journey home. This type of car seat is installed rear-facing in the car since this is the safest position to protect their head, neck, and spine. Our infant car seat, the Bugaboo Otter by Nuna, is the ideal early-stage solution for your child. It features three recline positions from upright to 157° lie-flat, which work on your stroller, our 360 Base, or in your car with the seat belt.

The Bugaboo Otter by Nuna can also be part of a travel system, since it clicks onto your Bugaboo stroller for a seamless transition between car and stroller. Separate adapters are needed for this set-up. This car seat supports your baby until they're 87 cm or 13 kg — whichever comes first. If you use the Bugaboo Otter by Nuna with our 360 Base, you can switch it out for the Bugaboo Owl by Nuna using the same base.

It comes with an infant insert, a head support, and a body portion to fit smaller children and keep them comfortable in the car seat. Use the Bugaboo Owl by Nuna with our 360 ISOFIX base, which offers a full 360-degree rotation. This allows for quick pivoting between rear and forward-facing, as well as convenience in daily use when getting your child in and out of the car.

Both the Bugaboo Otter by Nuna and the Bugaboo Owl by Nuna are compatible with the Bugaboo 360 ISOFIX Base, ensuring your car seat is always securely and properly installed. Before installing, always review the product user manual and your vehicle handbook. First, position the base in your car. Click both ISOFIX connectors into the vehicle's ISOFIX anchor bars. Push the base back until it touches the vehicle's seat. Ensure the stability leg is in full contact with the car floor. Then, click your car seat on the base. All safety indicators will show green when it's properly connected. Once your base is anchored to the car, the click-and-go system lets you lift your car seat in and out with ease.

You can also choose to use the Bugaboo Otter by Nuna without a base, by using a 3-point retractor safety belt.

Yes, Bugaboo car seats are compatible with the ISOFIX system when used with our 360 Base. The ISOFIX system allows you to install car seats using built-in anchors in your vehicle instead of seat belts. For example, the Bugaboo Otter by Nuna can be installed with an ISOFIX base or secured using a vehicle’s seat belt. Always check your car seat and vehicle manuals for proper installation. Bugaboo Otter by Nuna is i-Size certified and complies with the R129 safety standard. Bugaboo Owl by Nuna is i-Size certified under ECE R129/03, but only when used with the Bugaboo 360 Base by Nuna. The i-Size certification includes thorough crash testing, including frontal, rear, and side impacts, as well as 360° rollover simulations.

This means our car seats meet high standards for protection in real-world scenarios, offering peace of mind for you and your baby on every journey.

The Bugaboo Otter by Nuna is suitable from birth, provided your newborn is at least 40 cm long. It can be used until your child is maximum 87 cm or 13 kg, whichever comes first. This is usually around 15 months old.

The Bugaboo Owl by Nuna can also accommodate newborns from 40 cm long. It's compulsory to keep them in a rear-facing position until they are 15 months, but once they've reached 76 cm, they can also ride forward-facing. The maximum height and weight limit for the Bugaboo Owl by Nuna is 105 cm or 18 kg, whichever comes first. This is usually around 4 years of age.

Our car seats feature removable, machine-washable fabric covers and inserts, making it easy to clean up after any mess. Wash the soft goods in cold water (below 30°C) on a delicate cycle, and hang dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry, iron, bleach, or dry clean.

The car seat shell, handle, and harness straps can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The buckles can be rinsed with warm water, but do not use any soaps, solvents, or lubricants. Be sure to thoroughly air dry.

Always consult the washing label for exact instructions. If you're not using the car seat for an extended period, remove and store it in a cool and dry place, away from the reach of children.
