What's new with the Bugaboo Donkey²?
2017-12-07 - When we launched the Bugaboo Donkey in 2011, it was a true game-changer. Now, almost seven years later, we’ve introduced the Bugaboo Donkey² with practical new features and more ways to style your stroller.
When the Bugaboo Donkey burst onto the scene, it brought something completely new to the stroller market. A single stroller (only 60cm wide) with extra storage space and the ability to expand into a side-by-side double stroller in just a few clicks had never been seen before… and parents loved it! Bugaboo Donkey fans will be glad to know that our latest model still has all their favorite functionalities, with the addition of some innovative new features and more styling options than ever before.
New colors and fabrics
With our latest release, we’ve brought mix and match to the multi-purpose stroller. You can now customize your Bugaboo Donkey2 with our latest color portfolio, choosing a mix of fabrics for each part of your stroller. We have three fabric collections (Core, Premium and Signature) to choose from featuring new colors such as ruby red, mélange fabrics and wave print.
New foam-filled tires
One of the reasons parents love the Bugaboo Donkey is its big wheels. Our original model featured air-filled tires which — just like car and bicycle tires – needed a little maintenance now and then. At Bugaboo, we strive to create products that make parents lives easier so we developed a low-maintenance, foam-filled tire which has just the right pressure and doesn’t compromise on drive performance throughout the lifetime of the stroller.
Do you already own a Bugaboo Donkey with air-filled tires? The foam-filled tires are available to buy separately, and compatible with both the Bugaboo Donkey and the Bugaboo Donkey2. How’s that for an easy upgrade?
We’ve see the Bugaboo Donkey’s expandable side luggage basket used for everything from groceries to changing bags, fresh flowers to handbags, and everything in between. Why not make it even better? Now you can carry double the stuff; its capacity has been increased from 5kg to 10kg. The latest version also comes with built-in mesh pockets to keep bits and pieces like your keys and phone organized, while the removable zippered cover keeps your things safe from the elements… and curious little hands. The side luggage basket and cover are also available to purchase separately and are compatible with all Bugaboo Donkey models.
For even more practical storage, the under seat basket has received an upgrade of its own. With a redesign and new way of attaching it to the chassis, it now benefits from an improved fit when fully loaded.
Small things make a big difference
As well as developing new features, our design team also made a series of smaller improvements to enhance the stroller’s overall performance. One of these, for example, was improving the driving performance with the introduction of an anti-shimmy solution. By updating the part of the stroller where the swivel wheel is attached to the chassis, they were able to prevent dirt from entering the wheel mechanism making it less likely to shimmy.
Same great features
The Bugaboo Donkey2 retains many of its innovative and much-loved features. The width of the stroller remains the same, so even when it’s converted to a side-by-side double stroller it will still fit through most doorways. It’s still easy to convert it from a single to a double stroller and features a self-standing fold for easy storage.
