product engineer (experienced)

Location: amsterdam, the netherlands

Product Engineers at Bugaboo work closely together with Designers from early on in the product development process to create engineering solutions that support the conceptual product design and its story. In subsequent development stages, Product Engineers detail the engineering solution to a level with proven feasibility and ready for transfer to our engineering facilities in China. The focus is to find and validate creative technical solutions that fulfill all requirements from the product specification like look & feel, performance, safety, durability, "cost and manufacturability".

The following tasks apply to the job:

• Evaluate technical feasibility of design concepts, based on factors as look & feel, performance, safety, durability, cost and manufacturability.
• Create technical requirement specifications for subsystems of the product.
• Create multiple technical solutions for product functions in a ""set based"' way.
• Create prototypes and evaluates solutions.
• Conduct risk assessments FMEA of the product.
• Does preliminary technical validation by calculation, simulation or testing.
• Prepare technical data package of the product for handover: 3d files, FMEA, validation reports etc.
• Assist in production start-up.
• Does research into materials, technologies, and sustainability.
• Modify and refine existing products to improve performance or to comply with changed regulations.
• Travel to production locations to discuss directly with suppliers and toolmakers about technical feasibility of parts and production methods

requirements

• Technical College or University (mechanical engineering or industrial design).
• 5 years experience in engineering and supporting pre-production of injection moulded products and construction in plastic and metal.
• Excellent understanding of engineering processes from requirements to validation.
• Good sense for the relation between design &engineering and overall concept story.
• Detailed knowledge of materials and production techniques (technical plastics properties, injection moulding, basic metal production techniques) and engineering of complex constructions in plastic and metal.
• Problem solving skills.
• Understanding tolerance analyses & calculations for strength en stiffness of parts.
• Skilled with Solidworks.
• Pro active, social skills and ability to work in a team.
